The right diet for the English Cocker Spaniel

Feeding the English Cocker Spaniel is not very different from feeding dogs of other breeds. First you need to establish the amount of food based on the weight and height of the dog. A specific diet is made depending on the age of the dog and its needs.
Cocker Spaniel can be fed with dry food or natural food. In no case should you mix these two types of food. For the digestion of dry food and natural food, the body needs different enzymes, so mixed feeding does more harm than good. If the dog eats natural food, vitamins can be given.
The first rule of feeding the dog is no whims. Spaniel will not be able to starve if he has a full bowl of even tasteless food. Any dog will test the strength of the owners, starting to act up. If the owners succumb, then the picky dog will grow further. A bowl of food is set for 15 minutes. What has not been eaten during this time is removed. Cockers are fed 3 times a day. Even if the dog has not eaten, he will actively run and play and will not miss the next feeding.

Changing the diet of the dog every day is not necessary. They are not tired of eating the same thing. Cockers eat milk porridge well. It can be cottage cheese with milk or kefir. It is better to choose low-fat foods, since fatty foods are poorly digested, can cause diarrhea. For the same reason, cheese, loved by absolutely all dogs, is given in small quantities, like a treat.

You can eat Hercules, buckwheat and rice from cockers cereals. Rice is the best remedy for diarrhea; it fastens the stool well. It is necessary to give boiled veal and chicken, their offal and liver. Although the liver is extremely useful, you can give it only once a week. Pork is very fat for dogs. Boiled marine fish is also included in the diet.

From vegetables and fruits, English cocker spaniels usually eat carrots, boiled beets, peppers, apples. All these products need to be grated, since the dog does not chew food. The smaller it is, the easier it is to digest it. Food is not salted. Cocker does not need as much salt as a person. It is allowed to add a spoonful of vegetable, and preferably olive oil.

There are several foods that should not be given to a dog. These include potatoes in any form. Do not feed the dog from the table. Sweet and smoked meats are a forbidden fruit, and no matter what the cocker’s eyes look at, it’s impossible to give in. As a treat, you can take dried apricots, apples, cheese, pork ears and other goodies from pet stores, but you should not get carried away with them.
