Why a wide understanding of dog psychology is important

Of great importance is the understanding of the psychology of the pet. Animals, of course, are emotionally similar to us (this is one of the reasons why we live with them), but they perceive the world in a different way. Relations between a man and a dog that do not consume congenital strings in the animal’s mind do not become friendly and can lead to the development of behavioral problems.

Pets, like all of us, need a feeling of love and care, as well as positive communication with other living beings and interaction with the environment. Just as a healthy diet forms the basis of a pet’s physical health, constant “nourishment” of positive emotions from people and the world around them is necessary for its psychological health and is a key condition for your good relationship. Emotional needs are as constant and necessary as physical ones. It would not have occurred to us not to feed the animal for several days, but its need for attention sometimes remains unfulfilled for a long time. However, you should not forget about good nutrition, dog food should be varied.

Dogs have a special need for communication. Just as some animals require a lot of protein to maintain good health, dogs always need positive emotions from communication. Moreover, it is important for them to have a true leader in the family where they live. These two features are inherent in wolves. Thanks to them, they live and hunt together, which increases their chances of survival. Dogs are not wolves, but they are their descendants, therefore they have the same habits. Dogs inherited the structure of family relationships from their wild ancestors.

Most of you. you may have heard about the need to play the role of an “alpha male” in the “pack”, which is your family. The idea is that a pack of wolves or dogs should have a recognized leader who takes care of the whole group.

Unfortunately, this useful idea is sometimes misunderstood. An alpha male is presented as a tough macho, building relationships with a dog on the principle of a tyrannical boss / servant. When choosing a pet, most of us hardly imagined just this type of relationship with an animal. We wanted to have a friend, but not a slave. There is no need to dominate the dog (and even dangerous), but it is very important to be a responsible leader in her eyes. Often the main dogs are recognized as the one who cares and feeds them the most; a pet store will help you buy everything you need for a pet online store.

If you neglect the leadership role or perform it inconsistently and irregularly, it is wrong and fraught with problems. The dog will be forced to take the vacant leader position in your place. But since the dog lives in human society, it will not be able to properly fulfill this role. All her attempts to act as a leader will lead to serious problems. This can manifest itself in aggressive behavior towards guests, children, other dogs, and even you. She can bark at the slightest occasion, run away, not be approached when her name is, and also not let anyone in to food, toys or a family car. She can break out of a leash or jump on people. If you try to correct her behavior, she will be angry with you, because in her understanding, you are impudent in relation to her as a leader, that is, violate subordination. Her attempt to correct your behavior will upset you even more, which will ultimately upset her even more.

Dogs are very important stability. Therefore, when by chance we give her the opportunity to prove herself as a leader, and then scold her for it, we violate her mental stability and nullify the predictability of her actions. Unfortunately, this practice exists in many families. Until people understand the dog’s thinking and adapt their actions to it, the situation will not be corrected.

To be constantly on the alert is the main task of the leader. He must respond to every sound, action, change in the environment. When there is a clear understanding that the leader in the family is a person, the dog will sleep peacefully in the corner. However, if she herself tries to take care of the “flock”, she will strive to be in the know about everything that happens around her. She will want to react, study, but can do a little, since her actions are limited.

Poor human leadership strengthens the fear of separation in a dog. This unpleasant sensation arises when she is left alone at home. And then she begins to howl, bark, chew everything, dig, pace back and forth or defecate in inappropriate places. She becomes unbalanced, but, thus, just trying to ease the inner anxiety due to the fact that she was left alone. This behavior gives her a temporary respite from stress, but, unfortunately, it quickly becomes a habit. Lack of physical activity and stimulus, poor nutrition, poor health, breed characteristics and emotional changes in the family are also cause for concern.
