About correction of aggressiveness of spaniels

Isn’t that an amazing title for an article? After all, many are sure that aggressiveness and spaniel are incompatible concepts? Have you ever seen a dog of this breed fiercely barking and rushing at people? Unlikely. Spaniels always look balanced, have a friendly character.
But still. Spaniel is, first of all, a dog. Although rare, spaniels that can be aggressive can also be found. And in this case, having met such a dog, behave calmly, not allowing chaotic movements. It’s better to get around it and not touch it, but you can try to completely ignore it.

So, it doesn’t matter if you have a spaniel, or a pincher, or a shepherd, but the essence of the problem is always the same – how to correct the aggressive behavior of the dog?
The types of aggression should be distinguished: in some cases, the dog can be aggressive towards its relatives and treat people normally, and vice versa in others.
Often aggressive behavior is the desire to dominate the pack. The fact is that a dog, living among people, still believes that he lives in a pack. She does not understand what equality is. For her, there is only one truth: either she is the main one, or she takes a subordinate position in the pack.

Often in the dog hierarchy at a lower level for her is the child, and sometimes the owner himself. A dog may begin to strive to take a leading place if the owner does not let it know in time “who is in charge of the house.” So the correction of the aggressiveness of dogs, any, and spaniels, including, first of all, should be carried out (and possible) only if it is carried out by a person of a strong and imperious character. For example, it is not for nothing that it is believed that the shepherd is kept only by power-hungry, confident people. Because such a strong and brave dog can obey only a more stylish and courageous person than herself.

Another reason a dog might be aggressive can be fear. Often dogs are afraid of drunk people or in uniform, cars, children. Even some items, such as a mop or broom, can cause fear in them. Often these dogs had a negative life experience associated with this. If the owner, trying to correct such aggression, begins to reassure the dog, talks to her, takes his paw, strokes, then this only encourages the improper behavior of the dog.

There are many other causes of aggression: the protection of one’s living space, and the aggression of the “hunter,” laid down by nature in the very psyche of dogs and manifested in an attempt to catch up with “prey” and capture it, and sexual competition.

The main thing is that dog aggression should be controlled by the owner! And this requires training. Help in its conduct and to understand the causes of aggression of your dog will help you in the club of dog handlers. And the sooner you start training your dog, the less trouble it will bring you in the future.
